Associating a Case with a Contact/Account combo

(2) ShareShare

Hi,

I have a requirement that a Case be associated with a Contact/Account combo.  My data set is medical.  For example if a doctor (contact) received a complaint--and the doctor practiced at multiple locations (accounts), I would need the case to show up under both related records.

I know this can be done through connections but the reporting for that isn't very user friendly.

Thanks

    hi,

Case entity contains Customer attributes.. which you can link to either contact or account.

If your case is always created for doctor(contact).. then I will suggest to create one another relationship between case and account (location).

Show lookup for account in case entity and when CRM user is creating case for doctor(contact) select account(location) also.

If case is created for account and/or contact, then need to create two more relationships, one for account and one for contact, and based on customer id type you need to show /hide account or contact lookup from form.

You can make account / contact custom lookup business required on form.

This way same case will be shown in contact as well as account.

and you can easily use it in reports.

    Hope this will help..

Hi. Yes I think you should create a 1:n relationship between case and accounts so you can assign the case to many accounts.

so your case will appear in all accounts you assigned.

Note:  These additional relationships will appear as separate related entity tiles on e.g. the Account or Contact records.  You can customise the text that is displayed on each tile and/or may need to train staff.  Sub-grids may help.

Probably best to remove the Customer lookup from the screen and create 2 new lookups (one for Account and one for Contact) - or use code to filter the existing party list to just one selection - to force the correct use.

I ended up just adding a lookup called 'Location' to the Account entity.  Thanks again.

I wish there was a way to aggregate all of the 'Case' navigation links in the related entities so they would all display under one.
