Missing "Dynamics 365 App for Outlook" from Settings for a particular security role

Posted on by 180

Hi All,

I've created a new security role specifically for a support function for our system (general access + user management) but I can't work out why the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook (AppForOutlookAdminSettings) button is missing from the settings section for this security role.

I've double checked the site-map and it's definitely in there, this being confirmed by me being able to see it.

Additional Info - the security role I created does allow access to the AppForOutlookAdminSettings section via the weblink (see below)

Given the above info, it seems to be that a privilege is missing from the security role I created. Does anyone have an idea of what I could look for to get this button back?

    Hi PG,

    Thanks for your time.

    In response to your questions/points:

Q: Which version of D365 are you using?

    1. User with the custom security role can access "https://[Your_Organization].crm.dynamics.com/tools/appsforcrm/AppForOutlookAdminSettings.aspx" and has the D365 App for Outlook deployed to them (they are eligible)

    2. Other users to whom I use the custom security role also cannot see the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook (AppForOutlookAdminSettings) button

    3. Unfortunately this doesn't have any information relating to my issue

    4. The button is already in the sitemap, just not available to the custom security role I created (I detailed this in my OP)

    Hello Cameron,

which version D365 you are using?

    1. You can add the eligible user after setting up the mailbox using the below url.

    https://[Your_Organization].crm.dynamics.com/tools/appsforcrm/AppForOutlookAdminSettings.aspx

    2. Please check if any other user with SA roles are able to view the link.

    3. You can check out some of the known issue.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-app/deploy-dynamics-365-app-for-outlook

    4. You can manually add the link.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4339287/dynamics-365-app-for-outlook-missing-from-dynamics-365-navigation

    Hope this resolves your issue.

    Best Regards

    PG

    Hi Partner,

It is an OOB role in my pure instance.

I have complete CE license and it may have something to do with License.

I suggest that you could raise a ticket to Microsoft for more help.

    Best Regards,

    Leo

    Hi Leo,

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I cannot see the SettingsSiteMap entity that you are referring to. Is this a custom entity in your system?

    Hi Partner,

Please check if your security role has the SettingsSiteMap Read privilege.

Open the Site Map editor and find the Dynamics 365 for app outlook subarea, in Advanced you could check the privilege which is needed to see the subarea.
