Pricing items based upon cost and markup

We have a number of items which are sold based on a formula of unit cost + 15%. Our items are sorted into Item Discount Groups for the purposes of pricing. For example, if Item Number 3-111 is part of Item Discount Group ZZZ, we can easily assign it 15% off the unit price. All "ZZZ" group items will get this 15% discount. However, how do we perform the same function but instead of discounting off from Unit Price, we add 15% to the Unit Cost of the price?

I have the same question (0)

Hi, unfortunately, the standard does not have this functionality as far as I know.

But when you enter the unit price, you can use the Configuration Package function to import the price list, so that your formula can be executed in the Excel table.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Costs can be increased with the Indirect Cost % on item card.

Also there is a process "Adjust Item Costs/Prices" which can go though all/filtered list of items and add 15% to the standard cost, Last direct cost or adjust the Indirect Cost% on item card.

Not fully sure if it suits what You wanted - but You can explore this option.

I am familiar with Configuration Packages; I use them regularly to update pricing info on items. I believe you are suggesting I simply use Excel to add 15% to the cost of the item, and make that the "Unit Price."

The problem is that we have many Discount Groups based upon the customer type (distributor, wholesaler, end-user, etc) so if we change the Unit Price, it would also change the price which is discounted for the other various customer types.

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion. I think it won't quite do what I want. I may contact our MS partner and see if a modification is possible.

you could find Prices on customer card,

then update a specific price for that customer, then nav will use the new price instead of the price on the item card when you create a SO

This is true regarding the Sales Prices for a specific customer. That is what we are doing now. The problem is that when we increase the unit cost in response to an increase from a supplier, we then have to remember to also update the Sales Price. This is for potentially hundreds of item numbers, hence why we prefer the "Item Discount Group" method, except it doesn't have the ability to markup from cost.

I remember someone asked a similar question. you can try to put a negative percentage to see if it will result in a price increase.

I tried that, it does not work unfortunately.

then I guess you could use a modification

There are some excellent appsource applications dealing with these kind of pricing structures. We ourselves did our own customisation that calculates pricing based on replacement prices and individual items get specific conditions or inherit from product group - using product categories.
