Question regarding Windows (Enterprise) LTSC versions and Store Commerce
TLDR; Is Windows 10 LTSC viable for Store Commerce, or should we attempt to find POS systems which can run regular Windows and use policies to lock it down for enterprise scale use?
POS systems tends to be delivered with OS images based on Windows 10 LTSC (Enterprise/long term support) versions (so that one does not have to update 100+ stores so frequently). The latest version of Windows 10 LTSC (version 2021/21H2) supports Microsoft Edge browser 'out of the box' (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/ltsc/whats-new-windows-10-2021#microsoft-edge). Previous versions of LTSC did not (but you can actually install it - however it is frowned upon).
My questions are:
A) Does Store Commerce officially supports Windows 10 LTSC version 2021/212H?
B) This version of Windows has a 5 year life cycle. (next version is expected in 2024). But will Store Commerce (which are updated much more frequently) be able to run on this specific version of Windows for such a time frame?
C) Is there any kind of 'long term support' for a Store Commerce, ie.: will an 'old' Store Commerce be able to communicate with a much newer version of D365 FO which are updated every month?
Best Regards
