FICA/Social Security Tax table

 Hi,

I am using Dynamics GP 10 and I am calculating Payroll check from the window "Calculate Payroll Checks". There are no errors and when I click OK button, system says "FICA/Social Security Tax table not found". In our region we dont have FICA/Social Security Tax. How can I bypass this validation? Is there any workaround?

 Thanx

Hi, I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about FICA. But, if the table is not found and it is required for whatever processing you are doing, you could try creating it.

Can you look in the database and see if it exists? Then run a select query to see what data is in it. Have you other companies that you could also check in (maybe Fabrikham?)...if you can't find the table in your company database, check if it is in another database...query it and see what data is being recorded.

If it definately doesn't exist, you could create it through the SQL maintenance options under the file menu in GP. As always, test in a test company first.

Hope this points you in a useful direction!

There are a number of tables in the DYNAMICS db that contain FICA rate data.  Check for the UPR403xx tables.  If they are missing, follow Ian's direction to recreate them.

    Good luck,

    Hi

You will need to go to Tools > Maintenance > US payroll Updates > Check for Tax updates.  this will install the latest updates for you.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

To resolve that error, you will  need to follow the steps below:

    * You will need to open the application.

    * And when you have done that you will need to go to Tools.

    * And then you will look for Maintenance and click on it.

    * Next look for the US payroll Updates and click on it.

    * And then you will click on Check for Tax updates.

What the procedure above is meant to do is look for the latest updates and install them. That will help fix any bugs that might have been there in the old version that was not yet updated.

    Thanks

Hi Frank, I am having similar issue and since I am using an older version of GP (GP 9.0) I am unable to download the tax update file.  Therefore, I went about creating the payroll tax tables manually which I did just recently.  However, I receive an error about fica tables not found when I run a sample payroll test run.  You mentioned here that there are other tables that reference fica.  I think if I can create those tables I would be home free, but my issue is trying to find all the tables that contain fica.  Right now, I only know of the upr40500 (posting accounts) and the payroll tax tables (41300, 41301, 41302, 41303).  Which are the 403xx tables you mentioned?  I am unable to find them but have no problem creating them, I just need to have a better idea of what other tables utilize fica.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance

Ok I figured it out.  When I initially created the tables in SQL I was only creating them with one code at first and thought I could just add the other ones later.  That may be true for some codes but it seems for Fed and FICA codes they have to already be in the table when it's created, they can't just be added later.  So I recreated the tables with the FICA codes in them to begin with and now everything works.
