Hi all I am using ax 2012 R3

Can I use financial dimension with ledger account like   (  (insurance) expense )

 in general journal & assign it in AP /  Charges  /charges codes /posting /credit account 

Because ll charges accounts working without financial dimension. 

Does this will work in both AP & GL properly ....? And what about GL reports can I track this dimension. ?

    Hi Ihab,

    If you define one or  more financials are mandatory for an account you link on a charges code, it will check during posting if the dimensions are filled. If not filled, it will abort posting.

    The dimensions used will be defined on the PO header or line depending if the charge was defined in the header or line. There is one pitfall... if e.g. the main account used for PO posting has no dimensions setup via the account structures, it will lose dimension values when posting the charge.

    So or you also have to use the dimensions on  these accounts. When needed on the main account level you can define a blank value and set it fixed. Then the PO main account will post without the values and the charges account with the dimensions.

    Hi ihab,

    This might depend on the case if it is a line or header charge. I have not used the header charges in AX 2012 until now. For the lines it is the purhcases account.
