Release to warehouse lets the picking operations at the warehouse floor commence.

What happens when you click on the button depends on your wave template setup.

    Normal flow:

A load is created and the corresponding order lines added to it

A wave is created (manually or automatically), and the load lines associated with it

The wave is released (manually or automatically):

    - the allocation of inventory to pick happens, and work lines are created with the locations to pick from determined by the location directives.

A pre-requisite depending on the AX release (CU) you have is that the inventory on sales order lines is reserved.

Optional steps during wave release are replenishment and containerization - extra work to move goods from bulk area to pick area and a process for packing your picked items into containers of the defined type for shipping.

    Hi Ivan

Like you had mentioned after creating load header and then when we are creating the loadline I am getting an error saying that the " quantity is too high"..I am using qty of 4 in salesline and this is the same qty in the loadline as well..Am i missing something else before doing the release to warehouse. Is there any other process that i should be doing??

    please suggest..Thanks

Well, so the only time when the error "quantity is too high" is shown, is when you are trying to modify an already existing load line, increasing its quantity above what is specified on the related sales line.

From what you describe, that does not seem to be what you are doing.

Can you describe your exact steps from the beginning when creating the order?

Also, do you by any chance have customizations implemented in this area?

we do not have customizations in this area..

Initially i create a sales order..I give an item number and qty(say '4') and then a new load number is generated.  After this i click release to warehouse and then this error populates.

when you say "a new load number is generated", what do you mean exactly? where do you look to see it? please use the actual terms from AX client as well to make it easier. tnx

Actually what i meant by load number is what you can see in the extreme right of the salesline..

basically the load number which we can see in the warehouse management->All loads

You should be getting a different error "One of the lines is already on a Load, unable to release to warehouse.". But, regardless, you should not use the "Release to warehouse" from the sales order now.

Instead, navigate to the corresponding load, and press Release to warehouse from there.

Note, again, that you need to reserve the goods before you release them to warehouse unless you have setup to reserve at load posting

Ya i was getting that error as well..But then i checked  the checkbox for transport request in the details section of the load details form that part of the error was avoided.

If i go the load details form there is no option for release to warehouse from there..

    Please suggest..Thanks
