Trying to delete an entity from default solution

I have created a new entity form existing in a custom solution. When I am deleting it in the defualt solution it gets deleted in my custom solution aswell. Is this happening because of some metadata?

How do I delete only the entity in the default solution?

Regards Eric

Hi Eric, the default Solution can be considered as the system-solution and always contains "everything", that means you cant remove something from it without removing it from your dynamics.

Have a look at this short introduction about solutions: crmbook.powerobjects.com/.../solutions

Eric.. whenever you "delete" a component, doesn't matter if you are in the Default Solution or a Custom Solution, the component will be deleted from your entire Dynamics CRM enviornment

The Default Solution contains all components from your system, so basically you can't remove any component from it without deleting it

I would suggest you to work with custom solutions, it is a better practice, and you can select the components you want to include in your solution.. and note that in case you don't want something in your solution, you should use the "Remove" option, and not "Delete"

    This help alot, thanks =)

Yes, I did the mistake of creating entities in the default solution and got told to move it to a custom solution. How would I move this without still having it in the default solution, is this the remove function? Thanks alot!

from the Default solution there is no "remove" option, as it will always contains all the components

if you created in the Default Solution, the entity prefix will be as "new_".. if you are not happy with that, you must delete and re-create in the Custom Solution

if you are ok with the "new_" prefix.. don't worry.. just create your custom solution.. open the solution and select "Add Existing --> Entities"

now select the entities you want in your solution

You can't. Every customization you'll ever do will be in the default solution aswell, as we've stated before.

    1. Create a custom Solution

    2. Add your custom entity to your newly created custom solution (it will be added to the default solution by default - and this behaviour is totally correct)

    3. Export it or whatever you've planed to do.

If you want to remove your custom entity from your custom solution, use remove instead of delete.

    Microsoft Dyanmics 365

    version 1612 (8.2.2.112)

Thanks, when I searched for remove I looked on the entity that I wanted to remove and now the whole meny for entities, thanks!

I'll read up on the link thanks!

As i am understanding that you have only remove it from your custom solution, not deleted.

Now you want to delete it from default solution then first you need to delete all dependency of this entity.

Then you are able to delete this entity.
