I thought I understood this process but either I don't or it has changed. When a Lead is qualified it takes the Full Name of the Lead record and creates a Contact. That part I understand.
My understanding however, was that the 'Customer' field in a Lead mapped to the Potential Customer field in the resulting Opportunity when the Lead is Qualified. This does not appear to be happening anymore. The newly created Contact is jammed into the Potential Customer field instead of mapping the Account I selected in the Lead and to add insult to injury, the Customer field in the Originating Lead is updated with the new Contact as well.
