Hello,
We are working on an allocation to pull account Balances from the source account and allocate by unit.
When running the allocation for period 13, it is only picking up activity for the period not the balance of the account.
We have the allocation setup - Percent limit type- By Allocation
I believe this should pick up the Balance in the account for the year or is it for that period?
Below is the definition from the help screen:

Hi Carolyn, Thanks so much. I am wondering if it is an issue with running the allocation multiple times to test. Is there a way to clear PTDAlloc to essentially start over?
Thanks Carolyn.
I appreciate your updates on this post.
I will wait to hear back from you.
Chuck
From the definitions, it certainly seems like it should, but as stated before, both Percent and Unit ratio use the PTDBal-PTDAlloc
There is not a method that seems to look at the Beginning Balance of the period (which would be the YTD at that time). Without a few hours of testing, I can't know for sure, but I'd say if you need the YTD #'s, then you would have to make a manual calculation. I'll investigate this further and get back with you.
Allocation Methods are:
Percent — Amount allocated is distributed to each destination account according to the percent for each account; total percents for all destination accounts in a group must equal 100%.
Unit Ratio — Amount allocated is distributed to each destination account according to the ratio between the units for each account and the total units of all destination accounts; unit used is user defined.
Actual Period-to-Date — Amount allocated is distributed to each of the destination accounts according to the ratio of each account’s period-to-date balance to the total period-to-date balance of all destination accounts.
Actual Year-to-Date — Amount allocated is distributed to each of the destination accounts according to the ratio of each account’s year-to-date balance to the total year-to-date balance of all destination accounts.
Ledger Period-to-Date — Amount allocated is distributed to each of the destination accounts according to the ratio of each account’s ledger amount for a particular period to the total ledger amount for that period for all destination accounts.
Ledger Year-to-Date — Amount allocated is distributed to each of the destination accounts according to the ratio of each account’s annual ledger amount to the total annual ledger amount of all destination accounts.
Hello,
Is there a way for the allocation to pick up the YTD balance in the account? These folks only do 1 allocation at year end so are looking for the allocation to pick up the balance in the account. For example, for period 13 there is no activity but periods 1-12 had activity and there is a $5k balance. We would like the allocation to pick up the $5K not the $0 activity for period 13. It seemed like the "By Allocation" selection would do this.
the Unit Ratio, being just like Percent, will ALWAYS allocate the difference between (PTDBal – PTDAlloc) and so it appears to be doing as designed and is what was done for periods 1 thru 12, just this time it is (PTDBal12 – PTDAlloc12) - keep in mind that in the tables PTDBal12 is the period to date balance for period 13 because the table starts out with PTDBal00 which is period 1.
