Sales Data in Dataverse

I am quite new to D365 and have quite a lot to explore and learn regarding the entire platform. Are the orders and sales tables not included in the dataverse? I was looking at the official doc (Dataverse table/entity reference - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs) but I couldn't find those related to orders and sales. Or does this data reside in Finance & Operations? How is the data stores?

And if there's a need to do analysis or Power BI report that requires external data (outside of D365), what's the best practice? Do we put a dataverse extract to the data lake together with external data and perform the data processing from there?

Greatly appreciate any help or clarity!

    RE: Sales Data in Dataverse

    Hi Steve,

Sorry to check additional info on this. I tried to access the PowerApps Portal->Dataverse->Tables but I don't see the transaction tables like SalesOrder or SalesOrderDetail in the list? Is this some sort of permission or it's just not accessible in PowerApps?

    Thanks!

    Hi MiltonC,

Those links can also apply for Cloud version.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for your response and directing me to some references!

If I'm correct the D365 platform of my company is the Cloud version. Are the links you shared also applies or it's just for the on-prem?

    Thanks!

    Hi MiltonC,

Are the orders and sales tables not included in the dataverse?

No, they are included in the dataverse.  However, they aren't listed in the doc. You could refer to this to learn more: SalesOrder Entity Reference (Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement) | Microsoft Docs

And if there's a need to do analysis or Power BI report that requires external data (outside of D365), what's the best practice?

You can create a virtual entity to do this. Please refer to this doc: Create a virtual entity in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) | Microsoft Docs
