Knowledge Article attachments and updating them

I am creating a set of knowledge articles that will include attachments. As far as I can see the attachments are not linked to the original file version, which in essence means that when an original attached document is updated the update will not automatically be applied to the attachment in the KA.

Is this correct?

Is there a way that attachments can be linked to update automatically from SharePoint for example? Again it would seem that attachments are held on the hard drive of the creator?

Hi Joolsjmd,

There is no OOB way to do this. As a workaround, you could try create a power automate triggered with file changed in the SharePoint to do this.

And you couldn't update the attachment directly. You need to create a new attachment and tied to your knowledge article and remove the original attachment.

Hi Steve

Thanks for your advice. I decided that using a hyperlink in the KA to the SharePoint location is a better way to manage this.
