"New" Item Functionality

Is there a way to mark an item as "New" for a set time period after its creation?

As an example lets say that as a company I sold drinks, and I have stocked Coke cans for years. 6 Months ago I started selling Sprite and yesterday I created items for Dr Pepper and Fanta. Ideally I would like to be able set items as "New" up to 3 months after their creation and then be able to filter to my "New" items, which in the case of my example would show me Dr Pepper and Fanta

If this can be done, what about marking an item as new when it is received from a purchase order? (again for a set period of time)

Many Thanks

    RE: "New" Item Functionality

There are plenty of options. On the item card, there is a default field "Last Date Modified" (msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh175027(v=nav.90).aspx ), you can study if it would fit your process.

Another option is to use one of existing fields for filling it with "new" text mark. E.g., you can create item product group (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh894311(v=nav.90).aspx) and then move items (select different groups, one of those might be "new"). However remember that item group would be an obsolete functionality and in NAV 2017 already are replaced with item hierarchy and attributes.

You can as well just add a text suffix "new" to the search description of the item card, and then in the item list filter out by all the items that contain "new" in the search description, e.g. by *new* mask.

If you have access to development environment, you can add a new Boolean field and call it "New", and then just tick it when you create new item.

I would suggest you to save your custom filter

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh997422(v=nav.90).aspx

You should name your filter: "New items". And filter only items that were created during f.ex. 3 months.

That's what you can do in standard by several clicks.
