case views to display the latest closed date.

Hi, I want to display the latest case record in a case view based on latest closed date. For example, one account has multiple cases, and one closed date for each case, so when listing all the cases, all the cases related to this account will be displayed, what if I just list the record with the most recent closed date, how can I do that with view? Thanks

Easiest way (without any coding) I can think of is you group the cases as parent-child cases. Then in the criteria, you can filter out those cases with a parent id.

    Hi Sdnd,

     You could use custom fetch:

     crmtipoftheday.com/.../use-top-in-fetchxml

I think LucaV has a point, though.. How many cases do you have in the system? You might create a workflow to update that lookup field on the account entity (and you would probably need a custom workflow activity for that).

And, then, you might run that workflow as an on-demand workflow on all the accounts to update existing accounts.

Yet you might call it as a child workflow whenever a case is closed/deleted/re-activated

Thanks, LucaV. I understand  your point, it is good for new cases, it maybe not easy migrate the old data. Should I try customized fetchXML?

A view is for showing lists, in my opinion it does not make a lot of sense to show a list with just one item, being the latest closed case.

If I were you, I would set up a lookup field in the Account to a Case (like "Latest Closed Case") and, when a case is closed, a workflow updates the lookup in the related Account with the closed case.
