I checked off the Partial Mask SSN box but the SSN is still printing out.  Anyone having the same problem?  Thanks.

Do you know if you're using a modified version of the W-2 report?

    Hello,

I tested all the form types on 18.5 version, and they seem to be working fine for me, I would agree do you have security to a modified report maybe?

Yes I had to modify the form slightly since the checkbox for retirement plan was not printing inside the box.  Is there a way to mask SSN using a modified form?

You can mask social security numbers (SSN), employer identification numbers (EIN) and masking is permitted for all tax forms including Form W-2. The motivation for TIN masking is to reduce identity theft

The final regulation explains that "To aid employers' efforts to protect employees from identity theft, these regulations … permit employers to voluntarily truncate employees' Social Security Numbers (SSNs) on copies of Forms W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, that are furnished to employees …" Truncated SSNs are formatted as XXX–XX–1234 or ***–**–1234." Truncation is permitted on the following copies of Forms W-2:  smiONE

B — To Be Filed With Employee's FEDERAL Tax Return

    C — For EMPLOYEE'S RECORDS

2 — To Be Filed With Employee's State, City, or Local Income Tax Return

    D — For Employer

Instead of modifying the W-2 for the checkboxes, you might want to just use the out of the box W-2 and play around with the alignment, if possible.

Hi Joseph, I tried that and all the numbers are aligned perfectly except for the check box.  Thanks.
