5We are looking for ways to better manage dates in our purchase orders. We would like to have the promised ship date be just that, the date the vendor has confirmed they will ship the product. We would like the Current Promised Date to be that of the promised ship date PLUS transit time, thus allowing this field to represent the date we expect arrival at our facility. We have considered building a table to allow for additional of # of days, based on vendor/ship method, and hopefully setting up a calulation to update the Current Promised Date field.
Is anyone handling these types of dates and if so have an good method for it?
We also have the need to track 'changed' Promised dates - would we need to add additional fields to support this? For example, we enter a PO and the required date and promised ship date are the same. An acknowledgement is received which has a different date. We update the Current Promised and Promised Ship dates to match this. They then let us know that date needs to change - so we go thru the same process again - since we deal with so many international vendors, it is not uncommon to have to updated these dates many times - we would like some visability on this.
