Re: Re: Salary Matrix in HR

    Hi Leslie:

I think Mian's question was how a Salary Matrix assignment works with a Pay Step Assignment on an employee.  I've used Pay Steps before but when I read Mian's question it puzzled me about a potential conflict between the two.  Example:  What happens if a Pay Step increase in September conflicts with a range in a Salary Matrix.

Are the two independent of each other where Matrix would simply warn the user when Pay Steps applied values out of range?

    Hi Vail.

Thanks. You have provided me very use full information about salary matrix.

I have a few more questions.

Actually I want to when we are setting up new company and mapping their pay codes with salary matrix. Than how can we use the pay step table? What is the purpose of pay step table and salary matrix? Should we use both side by side or we must use one either salary matrix or pay step table.

Can you please send me any pictorial representation of salary matrix and pay step table. I am confused about the use of both, Or any web link where I can understand easily.

    Hi Mian,

Below is from the GP Help file, did you have a more specific question we can answer?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Adding a salary matrix

Use the Salary Matrix window to create a salary matrix. A salary matrix can have multiple rows and columns of information. For example, if your company has a salary matrix for production workers, your column headings might be 0-2 months, 3-6 months, 7-12 months, and 13-24 months and your row headings might be Labor Grade 2, Labor Grade 4, Labor Grade 6, and Labor Grade 8.

    To add a salary matrix:

    1. Open the Salary Matrix window.
(Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> Human Resources >> Salary Matrix)
    2. Choose New Table and enter the name of the table you’ll create. Choose OK.
    3. Select the pay unit.
    4. Choose New Column and enter a column heading. Column headings are usually lengths of service; for example, 0-2 months, 3-6 months.
    5. Choose New Row and enter a row heading. Row headings are usually levels of a position; for example, Labor Grade 1, Labor Grade 2.
    6. Enter the low salary in the top field of each column, the middle salary in the middle field of each column and the high salary in the bottom field in each column.
    7. Continue adding new columns and rows and entering low, middle, and high salaries for each column and row.
    8. Close the window to save your changes.
