This issue is probably because you are logged into GP as restoring the company. I would recommend you use SQL Management Studio. Also the Windows user that is running the SQL instance probably is local service account which does not have the permissions that are needed to restore databases. I have switched this account to a domain account which resolved this issue.
Yes,
When you restore from Management Studio, be sure to hit the options tab and force the overwrite of the existing database.
This may seem silly, but don't forget to backup the database before you do the restore.
Kind regards,
Leslie
Are you restoring from within GP?, if so, make sure there are no other users in the system, but I will recommend you restore from using SQL Management Studio as you can control overwriting current database files as well validate that the restore is actually pointing to the correct files.
Can you run the restore from Studio Manager?
