Visitor Registration Sign in app or Form

When visitors stop by our office, we'd like to have them electronically sign in at the front desk and capture these visits in CRM so we can easily lookup a customer and see when they last visited.  We'll probably use a Surface or old iPad we have laying around.

I noticed a few good apps on this list http://www.capterra.com/sem/visitor-management-software like the Ipad Receptionist but they all seem to use their own database.

Is there an easy way we could capture visitor registration\sign in directly in Dynamics CRM through an app or form?

Robert50 At my company we are looking into setting up this up too. Where you ever able to find a way to capture visitor registration/sign in directly in Dynamic CRM through an app or form?

    Hi,

Could you not use the CRM for Tablets app, with some customisation within CRM?

First, setup a custom entity - "Visitor Registration" - and customise with the fields/forms that you need.

Then, setup a user account with permissions on this entity only and then use this account to log onto your CRM from the tablet app.

You may need to utilise (the admittedly limited) form scripting options available via the tablet app to get this working correctly. For example, create a function that uses the Xrm.Utility.openEntityForm to open a new form when someone a visitor "registers" successfully. But this could be an inexpensive and quick way of achieving what you need here, so long as you don't require signatures etc.

    Thanks

    Joe

Just wondering if anyone has tried this approach? Does it work well?
