Cannot install mPOS again after I Uninstalled it

I have D365FO 10.0.0.13 Local VM trial.

I installed mPOS for HOUSTON-3 device. It went successfully and i tested some transactions. 

Question: If i want to test mPOS application for another device like BOUSTON-1, do i need to download the configuration file and the modern POS file for that device and install them?

I am doing this on the VM for testing and learning purposes.

    Assuming everything is setup properly for HOUSTON-1, you would just need to reactivate MPOS and provide the correct register/device during activation. When you open MPOS, just go into the menu at the top left before logging in... Settings, Reset...

    Thank you Jeffrey for your explanation.

    Now after i already uninstalled the mPOS, I want to install it again but when i run the 'ModernPOSSetup_V104259421438', the system shows the error:

    "Installer application encountered an error and needs to exit. Please try again or contact technical support.

    Error: The content could not be unpacked. Verify no other instances of setup are running."

    do you have a clue why the system is throwing this error?

    What's the exact step you uninstalled the mPOS? And have you checked if Event Viewer has more details about this error?

    I right click on it and click 'Uninstall'.

    Please find attached the log file and screen shots of eventviewer. It is saying access denied for some files but i am running the pos setup file  'ModernPOSSetup_V104259421438' as administrator!

    Hi Rody,

    POS activation drives what register this will be associated to. 

    If MPOS is already installed, you would want to click on reset and activate MPOS under a different register #.

    Hi Rody,

    If you did this on Start menu, "right click on it and click Uninstall", it only uninstalls the Windows App from your current user.

    Now if you open Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features, and pull out a list of all installed programs, can you see "Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce - Retail Modern POS" there?

    If yes, it's not completely uninstalled from your system.

    Go ahead uninstall it from here and see if you can re-install the MPOS.

    Again, as other replies mentioned, you really don't need to uninstall the MPOS, if you only want to switch device. Re-activating MPOS (AKA reset MPOS) should be enough.

    Reinstalling windows takes 10 minutes... if you cant uninstall/reinstall MPOS, just wipe the machine and start over. Far less time than troubleshooting. Then, going forward, just reset and reactivate.

    Yes that is clear but, unfortunately the mPOS is uninstalled and i am not able to re-install it again because of the error that shows in the above screen shots.

    Hi Jeffrey,

    I have done a lot of work on Dynamics 365 (creation,setup of legal entities/import of data..etc.) which requires backup of the AXDB and restore after wiping the machine and starting over . I will consider that if no other solution...
