Hi All
We liked the way the products are displayed in a separate tab as in below in opportunity. Is there a way to customise the sales quote products section to appear as below in a separate tab and not hidden inside "related" drop down?:
I have the same question (0)

    HI,

You can customize quote form and add a tab there and under tab you can add subgrid and select quote products there.

To make the Sales Quote Products view similar to how products are displayed in a separate tab in Opportunities in Dynamics 365 Sales, you can achieve this through customization of the Sales Quote form. Here's a step-by-step guide to achieving this:

Step 1: Open the Sales Quote Form for Customization

    1. Go to Settings > Solutions or Advanced Settings > Customizations > Customize the System.
    2. In the solution explorer, navigate to Entities > Quote > Forms.
    3. Select the main form (e.g., "Quote") that you want to customize and open it for editing.

Step 2: Add a Subgrid for Products in a New Tab

    1. Create a New Tab:

      • In the form editor, click Insert > Tab from the top menu.
      • Name the tab something like "Quote Products" (or any desired name).
    2. Add a Subgrid to the Tab:

      • Inside the new tab, click on Insert > Subgrid.
      • In the subgrid properties, set the following:
        • Name: Quote_Products_Subgrid (or another descriptive name).
        • Label: "Products" (or your desired label).
        • Records: Choose Only Related Records.
        • Entity: Select Quote Line (or Quote Product, depending on your setup).
        • Default View: Choose the appropriate view (e.g., "Quote Line Items").
      • Click OK to save the subgrid configuration.
    3. Position and Format the Subgrid:

      • Resize and adjust the subgrid as necessary to fit the layout of your new tab.

Step 3: Remove Products from the "Related" Menu (Optional)

    1. If you want to remove the "Products" option from the "Related" dropdown menu to avoid redundancy:
      • Go to Settings > Solutions > Customize the System.
      • Navigate to Entities > Quote > Navigation.
      • Find the Products node in the navigation menu and either:
        • Uncheck "Display in Navigation".
        • Or hide it using JavaScript if you need conditional control.

Step 4: Save and Publish the Changes

    1. Save the changes to the form.
    2. Click Publish All Customizations to make your changes live.

Step 5: Test the New Sales Quote Form

    1. Open a Sales Quote record.
    2. You should now see a separate tab labeled "Quote Products" with the subgrid showing the associated products (quote lines).
    3. Verify that users can view, add, or update products directly from this tab, similar to how it works in Opportunities.

    Optional Enhancements

    1. Customize the View:

      • If you want to show specific columns or data in the subgrid, customize the Quote Line Items View by:
        • Navigating to Settings > Customizations > Views.
        • Editing the view associated with "Quote Line Items" to include additional fields like price, quantity, or custom fields.
    2. Add Quick Create or Inline Editing:

      • Enable quick create or inline editing for the subgrid, allowing users to quickly add or edit quote products without navigating to a separate form.
    3. Set the Tab as Default (Optional):

      • If you want the Quote Products tab to be the default tab when opening a quote, adjust the tab order by:
        • In the form editor, select the Quote Products tab.
        • Click Show Tab > Default.
    4. Add Conditional Logic (JavaScript):

      • If you want to show/hide the tab dynamically based on user roles or record status, you can add custom JavaScript to the form's OnLoad event to control visibility.

    Comparison with Opportunity Products

By following the steps above, your Sales Quote Products section will appear in a dedicated tab, just like the Opportunity Products tab in Opportunities. This ensures consistency and improves user experience, making it easier for users to manage products in Sales Quotes without relying on the "Related" dropdown.

Add a new tab on quote form and then move existing/ create a new product sub grid.
