Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

Your current SQL server is not a supported version.

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We're running GP 9.0 and attempted to install the 2010 US Payroll YE Update.  When we launched GP Utilities to finish the installation, we got the subject error.

We tried KB2399690 to no avail.  We are down and need help!

Thanks!

I have this problem too.  I am doing a test upgrade to GP2010.  I have GP10 live on SQL 2005 and the test SQL is 2008 R2.  The problem is that UTILITIES is the one that doesn't like 2008 R2 unless you are ALREADY on GP10 SP5.  If you want to upgrade to SP5 as part of going to 2010, then you are SOL under SQL2008 R2.  So, the trick is (and this is unfortunately hindsight) to apply SP5 BEFORE moving the data to SQL 2008 R2.  BTW, I am running a SQL10 pre-SP5 instance on one computer against a SQL2008 R2 database and it is working fine; but I can't apply SP5.  You gotta love Microsoft!  They have the upper hand because they identify this issue in their system requirements for GP10!  I wonder if they did that before or after they tested this little catch-22!?

What version of SQL are you running?

This is the second GP 9.0 Year End problem I have heard of in 30 minutes!
