Lead assigned notification email

Hi Guys

I have a workflow that sends an email notification when a lead is assigned. Unfortunately there are situations the users are just picking up leads from the queue and assigning the lead to themselves. I can't figure out how to filter the emails in this situation and they are receiving the notification for their own assignments. Can somebody advise please?

    The not so nice way to do it would be to check of the owner of the lead and the modified by user are same or not before sending emails. I guess when the users pick up leads and assign to themselves the modified by user and owner should be the same logged in user. We could think of ways for sure.
