I am getting the following error when I try and modify a word template.
refer to the microsoft dynamics gp documentation for information about creating a template.
I see online I can review and maybe make changes to the xml but I cannot find the xml file. Is it in SQL.
Any help is appreciated.

Still getting the same error message you need to create XML file.
For XML creation, follow the below steps.
1. Print which report you want to modify.
2. In report destination window, choose destination as file, file format is xml data file and give path.
3. Now the report is generated as xml file format.Then you need to generate word template from xml file.
For creating word template you must install WordTemplateGenerator from partner source.

4. Follow the steps in the WordTemplateGenerator.pdf file inbuilt with setup.
5. Finally use this template to Report Template Maintenance.

Hi Kate,
The xml file is not available in SQL. You need to create.
For this cause no need to create XML file.Just follow the below steps.
1. Ge to Report Template Maintenance window(Reports->Template Maintenance).
2. Choose which report you want to modify.
3. Then click the New Button.
4. In New Template window choose "From Existing Template".
5. Give New Template Name and click Create button.
6. Now the newly created template will show up in Report Template Maintenance window.
7. choose that template and click modify button.
8. Now the template format will open in word without any issues.
