I hope someone can assist me with an issue we have been experiencing with mail authentication when attempting to send reports, like invoices and quotations, to customers via email. I am a non-technical consultant to apologies in advance if any of these things should be obvious.
I have configured our email parameters in D365 FO
When I test the connection I get the following error: Mail authentication failed. Please verify your SMTP user name and password. If your SMTP server doesn't support authentication, please clear the SMTP user name and password. Server smtp.office365.com:587 using SSL/TLS supports the following authentication options: LOGIN, XOAUTH2.
You get the same error when generating a sales quote, for example, and using print management to email the document to your customer
Printing of documents and delivering via emails were working when last I tested it a while back. Our customer has said that they haven't made any permission changes to the email account.
Are there new authentication protocols that Microsoft has released perhaps that means either our setup or the permission on the AD account is outdated? I have tried Googling parts of the error message and it does look like their is a new OAuth 2.0 authentication protocol for SMTP, but I am struggling to find clear guides of what needs to be updated on the AD Account or within D365,
Any assistance is always greatly appreciated.
