Sales order line with On Order status

Hello all

We are on AX2012R3. 

AR Parameters : Reservation - Automatic

Item Model Group: Reservation - Default

Inventory Parameters: Reserve Ordered Item - Yes

When an Item has no inventory and no supply orders (prod or purch) scheduled, the salesline created will be On Order status.

However once we have inventory, the sales line does not reserve automatically to the new available inventory and remains in On Order status.

Is this how AX works or am I missing some config setup?

    Hi Abby,

    If I understand you right then your expectation is that Dynamics updates all of your open orders once you have new inventory available.

    Is that right?

    Yes, since it is automatic reservation, my expectation is that AX should automatically order reserve against new scheduled production order or physical reserve against new available OH inventory.

    However the sales order lines is still with status "On order" and any new saleslines created reserves against the new available inventory. So then we have manually unreserve inventory against the new Salesorder line and manually reserve inventory against the older orders with ON ORDER status.

    I was hoping this would be more automatic.
