Reporting Tools Setup on GP2010 R2 Problem

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 315

Hi. I have a problem trying to deploy the SSRS reports through the Reporting Tools Setup in GP2010 R2 at a client site.

After filling in the Report Server and Report Manager URL and then clicking deploy I get the message "The SQL Server Reporting Services setup information is not valid".

The reports are deployed in Native Mode. I have successfully deployed on my own machine.

I can access the Report Manager and Report Server websites.

The SQL Server version is  : Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0 (X64)   Apr 22 2011 19:23:43   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

Anyone come across this problem?

Thanks,

Sean

    Sean,

What urls are you entering?  I'm assuming that they're something like the following:

    Report Server URL:  http://machine/reportserver

    Report Manager URL:  http://machine/reports

Does your user have permission to deploy?

Finally, you could check the SRS log files to see if any communication is happening between your client and the report server.  The log file location will be something like the following:  D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles.

    Thanks

    Hi Rob,

       Yeah I put in :

    http://SQL08/reportserver

    http://SQL08/reports

    I'm logged in as sa.

There is no log file generating in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles

It doesn't look like it's getting to the stage of hitting the report server anyway.

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Sean,

The call to SRS is being made as the active directory user that is logged into Windows and owns the Dynamics.exe process.  Does that user have access to SRS?

    Thanks

    Rob,

I'm logged in as administrator to server. I can connect to Reporting Services through SSMS with the administrator login. Administrator user is also added to the ReportServer database with dbo.

    Thanks,

    Sean

If you are at the clients site on their server can you go to http://localserver/Reports? If you go into the SSRS Configuration Manager do you see if running? Can you access SSRS from with the SSRS Configuration Manager? You will see the actuall URL inside the manager. Perhaps it is using a differrent port?

    Hi Richard,

Yes I can access the url.

In SSRS Configuration, it is running and I can access the url directly from there.

It uses port 80 so the url in configuration manager is http://SQL08:80/reports

When I click this url it goes to report manager as http://SQL08/reports

    Thanks,

    Sean

OK, just so I am clear on this. You go to a workstation and log in as the domain admin and it works. You log in as any other domain user and it does not work? I just reread the initial post, you are trying to deploy reports in BIDS correct? Who is the owner of the report server databases? You need to be logged in as that user in SSRS and then use that account to grant access to all your other users. Usually using EVERYONE to browse and then other users to deploy.

Accessing report manager is not the issue. I can access the url no problem.

GP2010 R2 is currently only installed on the SQL server. So the server has the Dynamics databases and the ReportServer databases.

On GP2010 R2, when I go into Tools > Setup > System > Reporting Tools Setup and try to deploy the SSRS reports I get the message "The SQL Server Reporting Services setup information is not valid".

I am not trying to deploy reports through BIDS.

The owner of the ReportServer databases is the domain administrator who I am logged in as.

So I am not even at the stage yet of granting access to individual users for the reports. I need to deploy the reports first which is failing.

    Sean,

Is this a new or upgrade environment?  How many companies do you have deployed?

Looking back, I'm trying to understand your statement above.  You say that you've deployed with your machine, but now you can't with this SQL Server machine.  If you already deployed, why are you deploying again?

    Thanks

    Rob,

It's a new environment. I'm just trying one company.

Sorry, I have mislead you in my statement at the beginning.

I was only testing on my own laptop the deploy method and it worked but this is not linked to trying to deploy at the client site i.e. not the same server etc.

    Thanks,

    Sean
