Create one new solution and add all the security role over there. Once your solution ready export and import in 2016 instance, all roles will be belongs to root BU when you import.

Just to make sure if you have any role based forms you need to manually assign them .

You can change BU  if your security roles belongs to root BU. So expected you will not have any issue.

    Good luck.

Yes you should be able to migrate the Sec roles using solution import. if you have test and uat environment, i would add one sec roles from each BU and do test import and see if the sec roles imported to root BU or appropriate BUs first before you do the actual migration.

    Hi,

If you are upgrading from CRM 2015 to CRM 2016, all of your existing security roles will be mapped to CRM 2016. You need to follow procedures on how to upgrade from CRM 2015 to CRM 2016. You will be able to see step by step instructions online.

Yes you should be able to Export and Import Security Roles in a solution from CRM 2015 to CRm 2016.

    1. Create a new solution - For Sec Roles

    2. Add Sec roles to export, in this solution and export the solution

    3. Import onto CRM 2016 instance

Do you have many business units ?
