Site and Warehouse

Hi All,

I used to set up Site and Warehouse.  In these situations, we have inventory.  What if you buy supply such as cement that goes into the construction site but doesn't consider cement as inventory? would you still need to set up a site?  In this case, a construction site.

Thanks.

    Hello Kim,

Are you working with the project module for incorporating the construction site? If this is the case, the items that you purchase - for example - through a purchase order are recorded in a site/warehouse and then immediately consumed, that is taken out again from the warehouse. Technically, you need a site/warehouse to record the transaction. However, from a financial perspective your inventory value won't change.

If you are not working with projects, the setup of a separate site/warehouse might be worthwhile to identify where the goods reside.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    It depends.

Is it wet cement that you will cast immediately and recognize the wip cost?

Is it a pallet of cement bags that will get issued over a period of time to different wbs tasks for which you want to track consumption at that level rather than at project level, and only want to recognise the wip value at the time of consumption?

    etc.
