We have a plugin which is triggered on creation, updation and deletion of child entity records and updates some fields on parent entity record. Is it possible to trigger the plug in when child entity records are created or updated through data import.

Can you please provide more details like steps you registered. Have you checked plugin trace logs to see if logs are present after data import.
Check you plugin logic to see if some data is missing during data import which is required for your plugin. Plugin may be running but because of some condition check in your code it is not going inside to do actual task.

You can trigger the same plugin while Data Import or any Bulk Job but make sure, run your plugin Asynchronously to improve CRM performance.

The plug in is triggered on creation, updation and deletion of child records and it updates fields on parent entity record. It is being triggered and working properly. I am concerned if the plug in will work in scenarios when child records are created or updated in bulk through data import.

you could trigger plugin when parent attribute change.
Eg:
Parent Entity: Order
Child Entity: Order Detail (which has an "Order" field for its parent)
If you trigger your plugin when Order attribute change, you could use it also for import create or update.
