I am trying to find a way to record item exiration dates for items in RMS inventory which we purchase from suppliers. We would like to report on items coming close to exiration so we can reduce the price and eventually remove from the shelves.

Retail realm has this module to control lot items why don't you give it a try.
If you have received two PO's for the same item, how do you distinguish them on the shelf to know which is the older of the two. Do you have a date on the packaging?
I understand the need for the report and I like the idea, How would you know which is the older product without checking the physical inventory?
And yes, Sometimes the addons from Retail Realms are free, but not all the time.
There is an inexpensive (and free in some cases) Lot Expiry module from Retail Realm.

using sub description 3 will not help, that expiration date is related to PO`s receiving date.
because :
if we received tow POs for item "XXX" with tow deferente expiration dates, how can we recognize them on sales in POS.

I want the report to generate information concerning the above mentioned fields.

How do you run the report of expiry date if you decide to take a sub field description 3 as text field for date?

There is a full Lot Expiry mod for RMS.

Thanks, this is what the MSFT support said. I have him looking into other options within RMS
- using the lookup code to include expiry date, this will help reduce the right inventory count for multiple dated items
- other fields that might be date formatted to contain the information
