Quick Find ignoring security on result returned on contacts.

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

A user has User level access to contact in his security role. He is given access via a Access team of the  Account. On Contact view he sees his only allowed contacts. When he puts a name in Quick Find, it returns contacts for all accounts. The ones from his Account he can open. The other cannot be openend due to access restriction and gets you are not authorized to view this contact .  Why is quick find even returning contacts for Accounts he has no access to ?. The columns give out the user info  . Global search works as expected and the same search only returns contacts in his accounts . Only quick find search results are breaking the security rule. The security role he has access is to User Level and his access via the Access Team. Latest version of Dynamic 365 as of 11/19/18. I delected all columns except first name and find column as first name and publish but that did not help.

Link to the admin center: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/servicehealth

Then click on the different apps to see their status. (Office 365, Dynamics, Sharepoint, etc.)

If you click on Dynamics 365 under "Admin Centers" on the left, it'll take you to the D365 specific admin site where you can see your instances, set backups, etc.

User Impact: Users may encounter excessive data when attempting to review certain records in QuickFind.
More Info: As an example, if users attempt to review active records, QuickFind will yield results for active and inactive records when their QuickFind Record Limit is set to 'No'. As a workaround, users can: • Go to System Settings • Under the General tab, go to the Set up Search section • Go to Enable Quick Find Record Limits and select the “Yes” radio button Current

    Hi,

We have experienced a similar problem with the Contacts Quick Find View since our latest update to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) [Service Update 06] on the weekend.

If a user searches for contacts while on the account entity, it displays all contacts on every account rather than the associated contacts on the account.
