Dynamics C5 2014 online cannot make pdf files or open Excel

Hi experts,

Our customer uses C5 2014 online (aka "NAV light").

If they try to print anything, nothing happens. It used to make a pdf file or a Word file, that the browser downloads.

And if they mark some accounts in the list of accounts and press the "Excel" button to open the lines in Excel, nothing happens.

It is the same if I do it at my pc.

Another customer uses C5 2016 online and it works fine. Also in my browser, so it is not my browser or pc, that is the problem. And also not the customers browser or pc.

Hope you can help!

I have the same question (0)

Hi, there is no 2014 version of NAV,

    More details: https://yzhums.com/28730/

And as far as I know, few customers use Web Client before NAV2018, so is this a problem with NAV?

Hope other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.

    Hi ZHU,

You are right. "Dynamics C5" is another program. It is sold only in Denmark and is for very small companies. It is called "NAV light" and when you use it, it says "NAV" on the screen.

I cannot find any forum regarding C5, so I hope someone here can help.

    See more here (in Danish):

    Best regards,

    Morten

    Hello,

That is right, we had a few supporters operating from Denmark that did the support for C5. I believe the support was stopped around 2018 time frame for Dynamics C5 2014. The Dynamics C5 2016 also went out of support one year ago.

Best is that the customer considers an upgrade to a support release of Dynamics NAV.

    Thank you.

    Hi Morten

The official Danish C5 forum is located here: https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/da-DK/home?forum=c5

It is for Classic C5 - i.e. versions until 2012, but it is probably your best bet right now.

Regarding C5 2014: it was a re-branded NAV 2013R2 (another license and a files needed to be replaced if i recall it correctly). In the same way a C5 2016 was a rebranded NAV 2016. The version "followed" the NAV version except for the C5 2014 as mentioned...

Also see https://scblog.lynge.org/?p=361 (unfortunately only in Danish) and other blog entries on that blog regarding it...

To solve your problem you might test updating with the lastes CU for NAV 2013R2 (CU 51). It should be kind of easy if there is no customized objects (the process is almost the same as updating NAV except for a few logo/graphical files that needs to be replaced and a product name that needs to be set in some configuration files? - if i recall it correctly. It will work without - just not saying C5).

An  even better option would be to go for the latest BC on SaaS with the special limited license "Basic Financials" which is supposed to replace the C5 license. The upgrade path would be something like ->NAV2018->BC14->BC20 on SaaS. For a C5 2016 you can skip the NAV2018 upgrade.

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi Gert.

Thank you very much. That helped me a lot.

(The error exists, when we use Chrome or Edge, but it works fine in Internet Explorer. My colleagues are now deciding what the solution should be.)

    Best regards,

    Morten
