CRM 2015 - opening records on a grid obtained from fetchData.aspx

Hello

Firstly I would like to note that what I'm trying to achieve might not be a supported customization in CRM 2015. I'm creating a custom HTML resource which contains an iframe. Then I'm making a request to /AdvancedFind/fetchData.aspx to obtain grid html with results of a custom fetchXml query and injecting it into the iframe (my method is similar to one described here in guruprasadcrm.blogspot.com.au/.../displaying-view-in-iframe-crm-2011.html). The grid is rendered correctly but when I double click on a record its form is displayed in the same iframe and not in a new window which is undesirable for me. Have any of you tried doing something like this before and found a solution to this problem?

Sincerely,

Paweł Grudzień

    Hi Pawel..

We have used the same functionality in CRM 2013 and the FetchData, aspx result is render on IFRAME. However we are getting strange issue, Advanced find ribbon is displaying on CRM main entity form where we have placed IFRAME. If you have faced the same issue please provide the solution. This issue was not present in CRM 2011 but while upgrading we are facing this issue.

That is simply how iframes work in all browsers. You cannot set values in the parent context.

If you could do this then commercials on websites would be able to hijack everything, just as a simple example.

I would suggest you create a small web part instead. You can export the fetchxml from the advanced find (view) and use that as a query base, and then just create a simple list with javascript (handlebars.js and bootstrap has a low learning curve and gives you a lot of simple styling straight out of the box).
