How to setup GP user not allow to DELETE cash receipt?
Customization is needed for this requirement.
I have done this similar request, please see details here.
keptonworking.blogspot.com/.../cash-receipt-window-stop-user-to-delete.html
Hi,
You could use "Field Level Security" to either add a password or grey out the delete button.
This would be the basis of the configuration and then you'd give security to the users.
More info can be found here www.prophet.ca/.../field-level-security
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Gavin
Field Level Security is a great tool to hide or lock buttons but unfortunately it can not stop user from deleting record on window close and browse buttons, if use update any field and try to move on a pop up message will ask to either save or delete the record.
I have seen a few cases where VBA was used to handle the message prompt windows in cases such as this.
However, since we're moving away from VBA in Dynamics GP, it'd be more of a customization as mentioned previously in this forum.
With GP Power Tools, a single trigger before the change script of the '(L) Delete Record' field can stop cash receipts on the RM_Cash_Receipts form from being deleted.
This could be created in a few minutes. You can use the Users Button to specify which users this applies to based on User and/or company, User Class or Security Task, Role or ModAlt ID.
I would be happy to help you create the trigger.
Regards
David
Thank you for reply. we are using GP 7.5 old version if you can give more detail in your answer,
I am sorry. You are running an application that was released in April 2003. There is no GP Power Tools version or even a Support Debugging Tool version for almost 20 years old code. The first SDT version was on v8.0.
I do not understand how you can risk running a business on an accounting system that is unsupported. You are probably also running old operating systems and server systems which are also unsupported and potentially security compromised. Please upgrade to a supported version.
Given how old the system is, you will need to decide if it is easier to re-implement or perform a multiple step upgrade.
Good luck
