Trouble receiving a previously unreceived item

We are trying to re-receive an item that was unreceived (it was originally received by mistake) and we are getting the following error:

Error Posting\Purchase order: PO-00003666\Item number: POH-540120-10-000  Quantity 1.00 cannot be received because items have already been returned.
Error Posting Operation canceled

The un-receiving process was by enter a -1 in the receive now and then posting the packing slip

The period the item was originally received was open when it was unreceived.  That period is now closed and the item is in and needs to be received in the current period.  Anybody have any idea on how to handle this?  Is this the correct method to un-receive?

Thanks

John

What is the current delivery remainder quantity on the line? 1 I presume? Can you put 1 in the receive now and then post as per the parameter receive now and get the same message?

Any modifications in this area? I ask because the un-receive and re-receipt is a common process.

I would suggest canceling the current line (Functions-> Deliver Remainder then click "Cancel Quantity") and re-entering it.

I've used the negaitve packing slip method on sales orders and it usually works okay.  Occaisionally, there is a problem, usually related to reservation, registration, and/or InventTrans entries being affected by some other part of the system.  Cancelling the remainder has cleared these issues for me on the AR side.
