QSCImport Not Importing

I am trying to take a .CSV file of customers and import it to RMS 2.0 using the SMS QSImport Utility.

So far I have been able to connect to my database and indicate Customers as the Destination Table.  I have checked the sample table before the import, and that looked correct.  However, once I click "Import" the program freezes and is unresponsive after importing about 20% of the customers.  Sometimes, it goes all the way through and appears to be completed. Even when this happens, though, I still see that my customers aren't loaded into RMS.

Any insights are greatly appreciated!

You could have your mappings wrong.  Or, more likely, you have something in your .csv file that it doesn't like.  For example, if you have a customer named JOHN SMITH, JR. and SMITH,JR is in the last name field, the extra comma will throw everything off and create errors.

For that reason, I prefer text delimited to comma delimited.  I also am not a fan of the SMS import tool.  A lot of the imports are just not accurate.  Best to learn how to do it through queries (CREATE TABLE, BULK INSERT).

In the meantime, why not try breaking your source file into smaller files, and try importing them that way?  Do it on a copy of the database first, to make sure you're satisfied with the results.

    Hello CMcm,

When using the import utility, we recommend using the master comma separated value (.csv) files that are included with the Import Utility download.

To use these files, simply paste your information directly over the sample data included and then continue to follow the instructions in the help files for the utility.

If you need further assistance with the import utility, I would recommend contacting our message center at 1-888-477-7877 to open a support request.
