Barcode serial number on label

Hey Guys,

Running  RMS: 2.0

Scanner Gun: LS2208 (default programming, we think...)

We have a number of serialized items in our database and would like the bar code printed on labels to include this so that a scan at the register and/or inventory update DOES NOT prompt the cashier to choose the serial number (the list can get very very long).

We thought, simple enough... we'll just add the Serial Number 1 field to the label and assign a bar code font to it.  Then at the very least the cashier will scan 2 bar codes and not have to do any data entry.

The serial number field prints on the label but...  We cannot get the system/scanner to read the bar code.  1st we tried a code39 font but quickly found out that it requires start/stop chars to get recognized and of course there is no way to include this in the label via the label designer.  Next, we tried a Code128 font hoping that problem would disappear but same problem.

As anyone solved this or a similar issue?  We could really use some input here.

Regards,

Rocco
