We've recently made some software upgrades — upgrading most of our servers to Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) and most of our desktop to Windows 7 (32-bit). Everything is working wonderfully, except I have one problem related to CRM 4.0 (with Rollup 9).
Before I begin, it is important to note that we use roaming profiles — I know, I know! But I didn't set it up and our users have come to expect that they will have the same profile when connecting remotely via Remote Desktop Services (RDS). So since they are using the same profile the Outlook CRM add-in runs and synchronizes on their local desktop, as well as in RDS.
Anyway, users who were upgraded to Windows 7 receive a new RDS configuration file that allows them to login to a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server, again in order to receive a consistent user experience. The problem is when users login to the Windows 2008 R2 server and open Outlook (2007 w/ SP2), it crashes. Once Outlook has recovered, the user is asked to disable the CRM add-in and then everything works fine (since the add-in is not running). Executing the CRM diagnostics tool doesn’t help. However, if I re-run the CRM configuration wizard in RDS the CRM add-in will work perfectly — however the next time the user logins in at their local desktop Outlook will crash again until I re-run the configuration wizard.
My thinking is that this has something to do with the fact that their local desktops are 32-bit, while RDS is 64-bit. It’s the only thing I can think of since everything else is the same.
Thoughts??? I’d really love to resolve this, but all my searching online has turned up zilch.
Thanks, Michael

I have the same question (0)I can tell you the same issue happens in CRM 2011 as well as 2013 on RDS 2008 x64. We have Office 2013 32 bit installed I don't know why Microsoft can't find a solution to this issue. I have found that it seems to be synchronizing upon the start of outlook every single time you launch it.
The only resolution I've found is to disable the addin but of course that disables the CRM integration.
