Installing Business Portal 5.1 - Problem

I am hoping somone can help me on this.

I have GP2010 R2 running on a machine called SQL08. I installed Web Services on the SQL08 machine. Web Services Management tools works fine and the test to http://sql08:48620/DynamicsGPWebServices works fine.

On a machine called Sharepoint I have installed Sharepoint Foundation. This is a 64 bit machine.

From the Sharepoint machine in an IE browser I can connect to http://sql08:48620/DynamicsGPWebServices and get the service page displayed similar to the test when installing web services on SQL08 saying “You have created a service…”

However, when installing GP Business Portal 5.1 R2 x 64 and I get to the Web Services Connection Information entry screen and give it http://sql08:48620/DynamicsGPWebServices for the machine name and 48620 as the port number I get back an error “The URL entered for Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP is not valid. The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.”

I have tried http://sql08/DynamicsGPWebServices, http://sql08:48620/DynamicsGPWebServices, http://sql08/Dynamics/GPService, and http://sql08:48620/Dynamics/GPService . I even tried another suggestion of http://sql08:48620/Dynamics/GPService/GPService

I have tried this with Windows Firewall on, with special rules allowing all protocols and all ports to the local subnet and even with Windows Firewall off.

Any assistance on solving this so that I can move ahead with the install will be appreciated.

Regards,

Selwyn

    Ewills,

SharePoint Foundation is an option, but SharePoint Online is not.

You'll want to join the server to the domain and run many of the services as domain users, which will enable much of the Business Portal functionality.

    Thanks

RE: Installing Business Portal 5.1 - Problem

Hi Rob, I am setting up GP 2010 on Win 2008 R2/SQL 2008 on a stand alone server (not yet joined to domain).  I have Web-services, eConnect are installed. GP Version 11.00.2044(SP3).

My question is whether can I be able to use SharePoint Online (part of Office 365) in stead of sharepoint server? Or could I be able to use SharePoint Foundation?

Do I need to join this server to domain (as required by Management Reporter)? Appreciate your answers

    FUNMILAYO,

I copied this from the documentation.

After configuring SharePoint Server within the SharePoint Central Administration

web site, use the Initial Farm Configuration wizard to select the services to use with

the server farm. You must select Business Data Connectivity Service. This service is

used to make Microsoft Dynamics GP data accessible in Business Portal

    Thanks
