Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: GP 9 SP3 on Windows Server 2008
good news: ill give you a definitive answer along with some advice.
bad news: it wont work. on x64 anyway.
first, when youre going to use software that might not be compatible and you are looking for a work around, ignore all responses that advise you to bring your software up to date. making things work when others say they arent supposed to is what we get paid for. i thought everyone at this point knew something not supported didnt imply it didnt work. i dont think at any point in this thread there was a moment when you thought it might be supported. listen to what others have tried, poke and prod, keep trying and dismiss those that talk about codes, life cycles and official "word's".
the reason it will not work is because of data execution prevention. as a guy in a previous post which was the only response to your pleas i found useful already stated. he stated he was able to turn it off in vista and get it installed and that you should try the equivalent in 2008 server. you access it from system properties, advanced tab, performance button. youll notice right off you cant add .msi files, just executables. heres where x86 will work. you want to add c:\system32\msiexec.exe. i have been unable to simply turn it off completely so you have to add exceptions. if you are on x64 youll very quickly realize you cant change dep attributes on x64 executables. you cant disable hardware enforced dep on x64 there are no system settings for it. your only option is to be able to run gp9 with no service packs.
hope this helps you or others in the future because sometimes simply upgrading isnt a possibility.
