Fixed financial dimension value not working as expected

I have setup two main accounts A, B with fixed financial demension values X,Y in company setup as such to have always A defaulted with X and B with Y. I finally got a slight different behaviour. When I start a JV and

I select A, X is coming perfectly but when I enter B as  an offset account I expect to have Y defaulted but getting X instead.

Can I configure AX to meet my expectations, or do I need a customization to overcome this case?

you can use the main account form to set up the dimensions by default. You need to choose legal entity and default dimension tab will be enabled

That was the setup I did, but the result was the one I described not the expected.

    Hello Hichem,

I do not fully understand your fixed financial dimension setup.

Have you setup X or Y as fixed financial dimension and for which account (A or B or both)?

    Can you share some screenprints?

Have you actually posted account A against B?

When doing that the accounts that you see in the journal defaulting should be overwritten by the fixed financial dimension setup. In other words, what is shown in the journal might be misleading until you actually post.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig, but this is totally misleading, when I booked the voucher, the offset account got defaulted with the same dimension as the account but when posted I got the result desired!! How can I convince the end users to something looks more of a bug than something misleading!

    Hi Hichem,

That's indeed something difficult to explain.

The underlying reason is that the fixed financial dimension rules only come into play at the time something is posted.

Not sure if a system modification is feasible and would help.

Probably try to discuss this with one of your fellows and the customer what they think about this.

Do you see any other option to achieve the expected posting for example by making use of the split posting functionality where the different accounts are entered in separate journal lines?!

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I was going to update my original post that when I tried to book into separate lines, the defaulting of the fixed dimensions worked as expected. I think AX has an issue in the order of precedence in defaulting the dimension in case of one line voucher. I will definitely look into the cost of changing the system, if it is something easy to do, I would prefer to change it before I go explaining something even me not convinced about. I will mark as an answer since you gave me courage to post something looks wrong but when posted becomes correct =D. Thanks Ludwig,

    Hi Ludwig,

I finally got it fixed! Of course by changing the precedence logic as explained in this post =)

Hope this will help anyone running into the same issue!
