Getting AxDB login failed error on local D365 VHD

Hello,

I downloaded a D365 10.0.32 VHD from LCS a couple of days back, registered an azure AD application on my tenant and generated self certificate using the application id. Now when I try to run admin provisioning tool I am getting below error. Has anyone faced this issue? If yes, what was the resolution. P.S. I tried logging in SSMS using the default AxDB username and password and I got in successfully but admin provisioning tool is still throwing the same error.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Ahsan,

I do assume you followed all steps to prepare the VM for the first time use such as an Azure App registration and creating the self-signed certificate? I had an issue once but can't remember the error. At that time, I deleted the VHD and downloaded it again. The second attempt it was working for me.

    Hey Andre,

Yes I followed all the steps. Also this is my 3rd download attempt, before this I downloaded 10.0.32 and 10.0.24 version and faced the same issue.

The cause could be missing Windows 'admin elevation' for the provisioning tool. Are you running the admin provisioning tool with administrator privileges on the VM? I.e. "Run as administrator".

Are you running the admin provisioning tool with "Run as administrator"? The admin provisioning tool needs to be 'elevated'.

@Anton, yes, I ran the admin provisioning tool by clicking on "run as administrator".

Can you try to decrypt the web.config file, then find the password for the axdbadmin user and login on SQL with those credentials?

I am facing the same issue while setting up the VHD for version 29. Please let me know if anyone had faced and fixed this issue. Already tried the recommendation provided here. e.g login sql using axdbadmin and running Admin provisioning as administrator.

    Hi Haris,

Can you check the Windows license on the VHD and confirm it is activated or not.
