Multi UOM at single item

 Dear All,

How we can control the Multiple Unit of Measurement in RMS 2.0 , because the Quantity  received in Different Unit of Measurement (UOM) and sold at point of sale in different Unit of Measurement (UOM).

For Example:

I received One Case of Pencil. This case include 5 packet of pencils and 1 packet of Pencil include the 5 units of pencils. So, at point of sale, the customer may require the case or packet or unit. How we can control this situation In RMS 2.0 while maintaining the single item.

Regards,

Shahid Ghafoor

I think there is another easy solution for this.

I will recommend that you should use unit of conversion as 1 case = 5 pockets and 1 pocket=5 Pencils

So by this you can easily use all the three UOM

    Shahid,

We install many, many parent-teacher stores and hardware / home improvement stores.  Yes, they sell pencils!! and many other multi-unit products.  You will create 3 different itemlookupcodes.  On the Properties / Special Tab of the "pencil", you will identify an item in the Parent field that is the "packet", and the qty will be 5 (because there are 5 pencils in a packet).  On the Properties / Special Tab of the "packet", you will identify the an item in the Parent field that is the "case", and the qty will be 5 (because there are 5 packets in the case).  If you tuck these items under yet a 4th item which is a lot matrix item, RMS will prompt you to choose which unit you are selling at POS.  Or if you do not wish to use lot matrix, we have a plug in which will prompt for a unit selection any time a parent or child is entered at POS.  This can be important as in your case, pencils do not have UPC on them, you may put one on...but the case and / or packet might, so a cashier may scan "something" and accidentally sell the wrong unit if they are not paying attention.  Just a thought, but the first part answers your question.
