Budgeting: Can I create a budget centrally for all legal entities?

Dear all,

I am a bit at my wits end and wasn´t able to find a clear answer so far.

I am responsible for the planning process to be setup as we recently have rolled out D365 F&O in our company. We have several legal entities each with their own ledger. Now, our business units are planned globally. But from what I understand so far, I can only create a budget plan for each ledger separately. This would mean that each business unit would have to create one plan for each legal entity separately.

Since we are certainly not the only company with global activity and multiple locations/ledgers, I was wondering: Is there a way to setup a centralized budget which then can be distributed among the different ledgers? The idea is that each business unit lead can just plan their unit globally and the distribution among the ledgers is handled in the background.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks and regards

Sven

    Hello Sven,

Currently the budget plan process is restricted to a single company only.

A workaround is making use of an additional findim that you call 'legal entity' and that is used for distributing your budget plan amounts.

Alternatively, you can prepare things outside of D365FO and upload the final budget data.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Okay - then this is pretty much useless for any corporation that uses more than one instance/Legal Entity in D365 -.- But thanks anyway :) At least now I know :)

    Hi, Sven,

You might try a cloud modeling tool for budget and forecast collection, consolidation, and variance reporting. Enterprise Excel(tm) is particularly interesting because it gives you Excel friendly modeling in the cloud, independent of the constraints of your GL.

You might also want to look at Solver www.nextecgroup.com/.../.  There are a number of CPM tools out there to fill the gaps in D365 F&O.

    Hi Sven,

You will need to create workflows for each legal entity and you need to create multiple stage allocation for each ledger because the source and destination must be in the same ledger.

The best way to review the budget plans is by creating P&L in the financial reporter that read from the budget plan scenarios
