Form won't show any data in some occasion.

I created a form with a grid in it.

I added a table as the datasource of both the form and the grid.

Then I created a menu item, and I assigned the form to the object of the menu item.

When I start the project in visual studio with the form as the startup object, the browser starts and the form shows the records in the table properly, I can also edit and add records to the table in the form.

However, if I start from the dashboard, and I click the menu item to access the form, the form will not show anything, and new records can't be added because there's no change in the table when I check the table in the database.

I noticed that the URLs are different if I access the form by the above methods.

And I'm using the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

I have the same question (0)

What are the URLs? It might give you some idea about what's going on.

You can omit the hostname, of course.

    Hi Dirk,

Have you verified if the legal entity is different when you open it from Visual Studio or using the browser? Probably the data is company specific.

It could be because of table relations. When starting from dashboard, are you passing some table buffer to the form? Quite often data on forms is filtered based on the caller record. Although this would not explain why you can't add new records.

You say the URL is different - are you sure you use the same menu item in both cases? Please share more details about the URLs that you see.

Thanks for your reply. The problem is resolved, but it seems that the cause is that I was setting the wrong company name.

The difference between URLs might be just that if I start from the visual studio, the company name is set to default "DAT", but if I access it from dashboard, the company name was changed buy another user, and I didn't notice that.

Yes, exactly. It is resolved now. Thank you.
