Past weeks at a technical conference I came to know that SDT is no more there, yet. Is that a painful area? Or someone is able to find an alternative for that in AX7.

Hi Sohaib,
On each form there is a Security analysis button. You get information about linked roles, duties and privileges. You can then jump from there to adjudt the role on runtime level. Or you can use this information to adjust the role in Visual Studio.
I haven't seen additional tooling in Visual Studio which has the options like the SDT in AX2012 has.
Hello André
Great info! At least something useful, than going manually for everything.
I believe Testing a role, was very great feature of AX2012.
Duplicating Duty and then making changes on it was also very helpful by using SDT.
I hope Microsoft can bring it back. I have created connect feedback, do vote if you think it can be useful to have this tool back.
The Security Development Tool was never released as product. It remained beta as LCS tool. I asked Microsoft once about plans to have it available correctly for R2 and R3, but they said they did not invest further. Then I wrote the blog series about this tool with tips also how to correct things for AX2012 R2 and R3. So I do not think Microsoft will bring it into the new Dynamics AX. Also the development environment and client is separated now.
yeah, that makes sense.
Thank you.
I have some good news here. In the course 80753AE at MS DLP (https://mbspartner.microsoft.com/AX/CourseModules/1165) the following was said: "The question is: Are there plans to migrate the security development tool? Yes, we are looking at doing that. It's a brand new development environment and so we're trying to figure out the best way to get some of that capability and also keeping in mind that some of the navigational structures that we had in AX 2012 don't quite apply. But yes, absolutely. I know it's a much-loved tool. So we'll be doing that."
P.S. Sohiab, your link to MS Connect seems to be broken and I wasn't able to find your feedback there when searching manually.
P.P.S. André, thanks a lot for these blogs, they have helped us a lot during a project.
Hello Alexey,
Thank you for your contribution on thread.
Well, I believe URL is still working. I am going to paste it here for you. This may work for you.
connect.microsoft.com/.../2493728
Thanks, Sohaib. Then I believe I just do not have access there. Do you know what program I have to be a member of to see it? A am participating at Microsoft Dynamics AX, but, obviously, it is not enough. I guess you are in some kind of a closed "New AX" program not being listed there for everyone.
Hi Alexey,
I am not sure what it takes to join a specific program of Microsoft Connect. Might be bring Microsoft partner or customer is the condition or something else. I don't have accurate idea about this point. Allow me to tag André, I think he knows, most probably, or some other contributors may help.
Hi Andre,
can you kindly help Alexey, by mentioning some information, about eligibility of joining a specific program on Microsoft Connect. what does it takes usually Microsoft Partner or Customer Source or may be just Live/Hotmail Id. I am not sure. :)
The link provided by Sohaib is indeed a disclosed group for providing feedback during the TAP program and the public beta preview. It is not open for everyone.
hi when u say on each form there is a security analysis button, is this in visual studio or in the UI?
