Data migration from one online instance to another

Hello All,

I am trying to find a way to migrate data from PROD CRM online instance to TEST CRM online instance. After going through some of the posts on the community i learned about Kingswaysoft SSIS toolkit for data migration. I have a few questions that i would need help with.

1. Kingswaysoft SSIS toolkit dosent take care of configuration information i.e. Custom workflows, processes, plugins, JavaScripts etc. In that case what is the best possible way to migrate the configuration? Will solutions help achieve the migration?

2. The toolkit also assumes that users are pre-existing in the destination CRM instance, if not then how do i handle the user migration part? Solutions dont include users, teams and roles.

3. As a prerequisite for using KingswaySoft SSIS toolkit you need to have SQL server installed, does that mean a temporary dataset is created locally during the migration?

Hoping to get answers to the above questions.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

here is  the starter pack of Kingswaysoft: www.kingswaysoft.com/.../Announcing-Migration-Starter-Pack-for-CRM-Online-and-CRM-On-Premise

As you are already online maybe MS can do it for you, i.e. backup you instance and restore it in an other tenant, just open a support ticket.

    Hi,

If your 2 dynamics instances are on same tenant then you cn do a full copy of your crm instance.

    Otherwise-

    1. workflows, plugins etc comes under customization. so you first need to ensure that you have the same customization between the org. You can export/ import the solution/ customization from prod to dev.

    2. while migrating the data, you need to do the user mapping. Or you can assign all records to a common user.

    3. Kingsway soft is based on SSIS you need to have SSIS installed which is installed with SQl Server.

    Hope this helps.
