New Dynamics CRM - Confused about Server Setup

Hi,

I am a complete novice at Dynamics and SQL Server so please be gentle :)

I have been tasked with setting up a basic dynamics environment with Always On HA.

I have 3 servers at my disposal for this test and i think my setup will be as follows

WIndows Server 2012 Cluster that will incorporate the 2 SQL 2012 Server

TestSQL1

TestSQL2

A Seperate 2012 Server that will host the Dynamics Server

TestCRM

The intention is to set up the SQL Servers with High Availability under the cluster, i understand how to setup the cluster and the whole replica things works.

Hopefully i will get a fourth server at some point and put another Dynamics Server into the setup to provide backup.

Three questions i still have

1. If i understand it right it will just be case of building a Dynamics server and pointing at the Cluster that holds the db from the orig TestCRM install to create a new CRM Server?

2. We might be getting a load balancer in our network soon but if not how do i cope with a server failure and switching between the two?

3. Where do i install the reporting services, do i install on each Dynamics server and point them to the Cluster for the db so that same db is available to both servers or do i install on the SLQ Servers but how does that work as the ReportServer dbs will be created on each sql server and wont sync over the top of each other?

I have read innumerable articles about this but i think i have just confused myself.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mark

Mark, you've chosen a very advanced configuration for someone with little CRM or SQL Server experience. Configuring AlwaysOn and installing CRM 2011 on WIndows Server 2012 both have lots of hidden traps.

If you're doing it to learn, then good luck. If you're doing it for your production environment, then I would strongly advise you to engage a local Microsoft CRM partner and get them to help you.

Thanks Mohammad, i had a feeling that it might end up having to configure Dynamics manually.

Here hoping there next update includes in built support for Availability Groups.
