copy vendors to other legal entity.

Hi,

I want to ask if I can by any means copy a vendor from one legal entity to another with the same code?

Case: I'm working on a consolidation project; the client is a company that has 6 subsidiaries. They want to create multiple vendors in multiple entities with the same code.

Ex:

Vendor Code: vend0001

Vendor Name: ABC

 Legal Entity: Company X

--> Add vendor to another legal entity:

Vendor Code: vend0001

Vendor Name: ABC

 Legal Entity: Company Y

I have the same question (0)

Yes you technically can. Remember to reference the Party ID from the original vendor so that are linked together. Why do you want the same account number (code)? Why not use the same account number but add the legal entity as prefix? For easy identification?

    Hi A.Soliman,

You can use data management framework (DMF) and copy vendors from legal entity A to legal entity B.

Have you looked into using Cross Company data sharing?  This may accomplish what the client wants with no need to copy.

    Hi,

You can use data management framework to copy vendor data from one legal entity to another legal entity.

If you are going to use the centralised payment functionality, then it is better to use the same Party ID.

    Hi Anton,

They want vendors to have the same code so that they can generate a report that tells them the balance of that vendor across all companies. So having the same vendor with different codes across the legal entities would not make this request possible.

    Hello Alireza,

I tried this option, but shared number sequence does not allow change to lower number, so that's a problem.

However, I have found the solution my problem, but it only allows copying one vendor at a time, which is not that big of a deal.

By typing in the name of the vendor in the entity you wish to copy the vendor to, suggested vendors appear to use as a match. Find the vendor's name you want to copy, in the 'Roles' tab you'll find the vendor original code and company. On the bottom right corner, the toggle 'Existing vendor. Copy vendor?' appears only with the vendors that are applicable for this action, switch the toggle to yes and click on the button 'Select'. By this you will find the vendor with the same code.
